The Iowa Gambling Prevention and Treatment Program (IGTP)
The Iowa Gambling Prevention and Treatment Program (IGTP) is a program of the Iowa Department of Public Health with the purpose to ensure the well being and safety of Iowans by addressing the dangers of problem gambling and treatment for problem gamblers and their concerned persons. The mission of the IGTP is to minimize the risks and harms associated with problem gambling.
This will be accomplished through:
- Education and awareness
- Identification with those in need of assistance
- The availability of a variety of quality prevention and treatment optionsv
- The use of appropriate outcome measures, research and pilot studies
- Provider recruitment, training and retention
- Integration with other providers of social and financial services
- Policy development
